People throw around the word purpose as if it’s something easy to find. This isn’t true. You have a purpose in life, but you must be searching. Your purpose won’t come find you and it won’t be easy. Millions of Americans are dissatisfied with their life. It’s because they haven’t found their true purpose in life. You can chase money and that will lead you nowhere. If you love what you do, the money will follow. But first, you have to find out what you love to do.
Control Your Time
You can’t be stretched out in too many areas. We’re getting tugged in every which way. From friends and family, the media, ourselves, and what we should be doing. We try to be the jack of every trade instead of being the master of one. Unless you’re Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s time to put your sole focus into what you want out of your life.
Albeit that Schwarzenegger accomplished plenty in his life, he always put his focus into what he was doing. At one point that was bodybuilding. It was an actor, then governor. He never tried everything at once. As you learn and grow, your purpose in life will change. The person you are today will differ from the person you were last year.
Find your reason
When you find passion in life, you jump out of bed. People will tell you that you work too much. The naysayers appear. Well, if you love what you do, it isn’t work. Understand that we have a reason for existing.
Without purpose, life is dull and meaningless. Do you want to work forty years doing something you hate and then call it a life? It’s a normality in our society. We’re expected to hate our job. This is the mediocrity mindset. Don’t fall victim. You’re here for a reason, find out why. We’re moving fast in life and we forget to stop sometimes.
One year, ten years, twenty years can pass in the blink of an eye. You’ll look up and be nowhere you wanted to be in life. We need to take a break. Question the path we’re on right now. Is this who we are? Is what we were meant to do? Take a close examination of your life. If you aren’t where you wish something needs to change.
Take full responsibility
We’re moving fast in life and we forget to stop sometimes. One year, ten years, twenty years can pass in the blink of an eye. You’ll look up and be nowhere you wanted to be in life. We need to take a break. Question the path we’re on right now. Is this who we are? Is what we were meant to do? Take a close examination of your life. If you aren’t where you wish something needs to change.
The change you need starts with yourself. We can be so pessimistic we miss opportunities every day. How is one person always happy and someone else negative? Your view on the world will decide if you find your purpose. Opportunities for growth and learning are there.
Look in the past
To find your purpose, start with your past-self. What did you love as a kid? What did you love as a teenager and when you were in your early twenties? Your purpose leaves clues. Sit and write out the times you were happy. While your past doesn’t garner future happiness, it is a start.
When was the last time you listened to your heart? Be doing what’s best for you, not what’s best for someone else. You might assume that you’re letting people down, this feeling will overtake with feelings of joy. Be careful of your mind, it can be deceitful. You realize what you should be doing. It’s time to voice your opinion. Show your true colors to the world and be who you are.
Finding your purpose means to make an impact in the world. Are you adding value to other people’s lives? If you add more value than anyone else, the money will be an afterthought. To be happy, have meaning with your work. You’re serving a purpose that’s greater than yourself.
On your journey towards finding your purpose, you will have to come overcome obstacles. It’s inevitable you’ll meet hardships. Do you care if you took five years to find your purpose? You’ll be excited that you found it. Remember, obstacles are in front of you for a reason. You won’t understand why, but you will looking backward.
Focus on self-improvement
It’s time you learn and grow every day. This is how you’ll find your purpose. Are you working on yourself? To become a better person than you were yesterday? If you look back and nothing changed, there’s a problem. Read a few pages of your book every day. Work on a business part-time while having a full-time job. If you’re passionate for your work, you’ll make time. If you love what you do, you won’t get tired.
Happiness in life comes from inside ourselves. Be the one to create your own happiness. Rely on yourself and become independent of everyone else. You’ll be spending the most time by yourself. Why not treat yourself with kindness? Sometimes we can be our own worst critic. Our inner-self can be discouraging. To quell this, you have to be working on your craft. Free time is the enemy of success. This is when your fears can overtake and your happiness evaporated.
If you’re at a job you don’t prefer, what can you do to make yourself love the work? If you can change your view on work, your life will change. Grant Cardone hated selling cars. He was aware if he wanted to get ahead in life, he must force himself to like it. Cardone studied salesmanship every day. He grew to be one of the best salesmen in his company. Cardone has created an empire out of sales training. It was with that one switch in his thinking.
Leave nothing to chance
Put everything you have into what you’re doing. Burn the boats and jump full circle. When your back is against the wall, you work at your best. Give yourself no choice, but to find your purpose. Keep searching and never stop trying. Do you want to have regrets? To look back and see you didn’t give it everything? We’re only here a short time, we need to make the best of it.
Each of has a different purpose. That purpose is growing and changing every day. You can’t copy what others are doing. You understand what makes you happy and unhappy. Because someone else loves their life, doesn’t mean you’ll get the same happiness out of what they’re doing.
Our purpose is meant to be found. It will not be handed to you. We could’ve been lost on our journey, now it’s time to find out way back. Take the first step. If money wasn’t an issue and you could add value to other’s lives, what would you do?
